Where We Are

Taigh a' Bhraoin is situated at the edge of the village of Letters on the west bank of Loch Broom. It is about 10 miles from Ullapool, the main ferry port for the Outer Hebrides.

The North-west Highlands are among the least populated areas in Scotland and have some of the most rugged and beautiful scenery to be found anywhere in the world. The rocks in the area are some of the oldest on earth and there are places where the various rock is exposed to show the different ages during which they were created. There are Lochs to sail on, islands to explore and mountains to climb (including over 20 Munros - mountains over 3000 feet - within 30 miles of Taigh a' Bhraoin).

The wildlife to be seen in the area includes some of the rarest species in the UK, including Red Kites, Sea Eagles, Pine Martens, Otters, Seals and Porpoises. Make sure you bring your binoculars!

How To Get There

You can get to Taigh a' Bhraoin via car or bike as we are on the North Coast 500 route! The nearest airport is Inverness which is about 60 miles away.

The nearest railway station is Garve which is about 30 miles away but if you are hiring a car, the main station would be Inverness.

Glasgow and Edinburgh are each about 250 miles from Taigh a' Bhraoin and have international air services.

Getting Around

Many local sites and attractions are accessible by car or bike. There are also some amazing walking routes from Taigh a' Bhraoin and around the local area.

The NC500 route has become an established 'MUST DO' route in Scotland and passes within 4 miles of Taigh a' Bhraoin. The nearest shops, pubs and restaurants are in Ullapool which is 10 miles away.

COVID-19 STATEMENT

Our continued concern is the safety of you (our guests), our staff and anyone else you may come into contact with. Please note that the guidance from the Scottish Government has changed again.

In accordance with the Scottish Governement roadmap out of COVID-19, we are now allowed to open although some restrictions will still apply. The main things affecting guests are the number of adults and household rules.

From the 19th July, a maximum of 8 people from up to 4 households are allowed to stay in self-catering accommodation (children under the age of 12 do not count toward the total number of people permitted to meet but do count toward the total number of households).

We are 'Good To Go'

This means we have met all the necessary safety and health criteria required by the Scottish & UK Governments in order that we can be certified as

GOOD TO GO.

We are now taking bookings for 2021 and 2022 but these may have to be cancelled or postponed at the last minute if regulations change.

If things change we will be flexible with refunds or date transfers so there will be no loss on your part.
