The highlands are renowned for their folk music and ceilidhs (In modern usage, a céilidh or ceilidh /ˈkeɪlɪ/ is a traditional Gaelic social gathering, which usually involves playing Gaelic folk music and dancing). Many of the pubs and hotels in the area have live bands playing at weekends. The local Pipe band plays at the pier every week.

Ullapool hosts many music festivals including Ullapool Dance Festival, Guitar Week and Loopallu. The highlands are also well known for their more mainstream festivals such as Belladrum and Rock Ness.

 

Check out the entertainment before your visit. If you intend to attend one of the larger events, make sure you get your tickets in advance as they generally sell out quickly.
